Bowl Cozy - Pattern Tutorial Review

The other day, my friend asked me to make her some bowl cozies. First, I had to look up what they were, then I said yes. They seem simple enough!

They are a lot like hot pot holders, except, they are shaped to fit your bowl. They have little corners that are perfect handles for lifting hot bowls of soup out of the microwave.

After a quick internet search, I found a tutorial at Craft Warehouse. I already had all the supplies I needed, so I took an hour and whipped some up. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The PDF was easy to download and easy to read. The finished product fits my bowls perfectly! My friend loved them.

So I decided to make a couple for my family. My girls are excited to use them.

When you make them, the instructions are clear about the types for materials to use. This is very important because if you use Insul-Brite or materials like that with metal insulating materials, that could ruin your microwave. Make sure you only use 100% cotton batting or Wrap-N-Zap batting. Polyester has the possibility of melting and that wouldn't be fun either.

These would make great neighbor gifts or get well gifts with a can of soup.

If you want to make your own, check out the tutorial here.

Have fun sewing!
